WHAT IS MLA Format?
MLA format is the Modern Language Associations way of citing sources.
It allows you to give credit to places where you have gathered information. Citing sources allows people who learned something from your paper to follow your research and to learn more. It is also a way of crediting the author for their thoughts.
MLA format has a standard way of setting up citation. That way you can find the information you need quickly.
The basic format varies depending on whether it is a website, book, magazine, or interview, but it does have a basic organization:
Each section is separated by a period. Author. Title. Publishing information.
Because there are so many kinds of sources MLA has different formats for each kind.
